The majority of this collection consists of original manuscripts by Seumas O'Kelly in various stages of the writing and revision process. The manuscripts, including plays, short stories and unfinished manuscripts are both typed and handwritten. Among the titles present are Wet Clay, The Parnellite, The Matchmaker, and The Weaver's Grave. Also in this collection is correspondence, either to O'Kelly or about O'Kelly after his death, literary criticism and newspapers depicting or paying tribute to his work and his life.

Seumas O'Kelly was an Irish writer, born in Loughrea in 1881. He worked as a journalist off and on most of his life, contributing articles to the United Irishman and The Connaught Leader. Later he became the editor of The Southern Star and the Leinsten Leader. He is most widely known as a playwright and literary artist, writing plays such as The Matchmakers, The Shuiler's Child and The Bribe.
